Do I have to plug in the F-150 PowerBoost to charge it?
No. The PowerBoost is a full hybrid, not a plug-in hybrid. It charges its own 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery automatically through regenerative braking and the gas engine while you drive. You fill up at a regular gas pump just like any other truck. No charging cable, no charging station required.
What can I run with Pro Power Onboard?
The base 2.0 kW system handles lights, phone and device charging, and small tools. The available 7.2 kW system can run a miter saw, air compressor, welder, or multiple tools simultaneously. With a GenerLink transfer switch (sold separately), it can power essential home circuits during a power outage. The system operates when the truck is parked or while driving.
How much does the F-150 PowerBoost tow?
Up to 11,600 lbs when properly equipped with a 4WD SuperCrew configuration and the Tow/Haul Package. This is more than the 5.0L V8 on comparable configurations. Towing capacity varies based on cab size, bed length, drivetrain, and options — see dealer for your specific configuration.
What is the F-150 PowerBoost fuel economy?
EPA estimates for the 2026 model year are pending. Based on 2025 EPA data, the PowerBoost 4WD is rated at approximately 22 city / 24 highway MPG combined. The 30.6-gallon tank gives you 700+ miles of range on a single fill-up in real-world highway driving. Significantly better than the 5.0L V8's 16/24 MPG rating.
What trims offer the PowerBoost for 2026?
Per ford.com trim-specific pages, the 2026 F-150 PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 is available on four trims: XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum. The PowerBoost is not offered on the XL, STX, Tremor, or Raptor trims — those use other engine options. If hybrid power is important to you, XLT is the entry point into the PowerBoost lineup.
Is the PowerBoost better than the 5.0L V8?
For most buyers, yes — it has more torque (578 vs 410 lb-ft), more towing capacity, better fuel economy, and the Pro Power Onboard generator. The V8 has its own advantages: a higher max payload rating, the classic V8 sound, and no hybrid system complexity. If you tow near maximum capacity regularly or want the V8 character, the 5.0L is still a strong engine. For everything else, the PowerBoost is the stronger choice.

Can the F-150 PowerBoost power my home during an outage?
With the 7.2 kW Pro Power Onboard system and a GenerLink transfer switch (sold separately by a licensed electrician), the F-150 PowerBoost can power essential home circuits — refrigerator, lights, sump pump, phone charging — during a power outage. Ford specifically markets this capability. The GenerLink switch safely connects the truck to your home's electrical panel without backfeeding the grid.
