After more than a year of testing mules, camouflaged prototypes, and drip-fed teasers, Ford has put a name and a price on its midsize electric pickup. Here is what was actually announced — and what it means if you shop in the Fenton and Flint area.

Ford chose Fathom over a badge of letters and numbers. Ford says the name points to depth — both the classic nautical measure of open arms and the idea that there is more to the truck than what shows on the surface.
