What is new for the 2027 Ford Expedition?
For 2027, 4x2 becomes available on Platinum and King Ranch, which were four-wheel drive only last year. BlueCruise is now equipped with a 90-day trial on Active Touring 202A rather than optional. Two new packages arrive: the 30th Anniversary Package on Platinum and the Family Travel Package on Active Touring 202A. Three new colors join the lineup, Bronze Fire Metallic Tri-Coat, Nocturnal Blue Metallic, and Blue Ember Metallic, which is exclusive to the 30th Anniversary Package. A laminated windshield is now standard on every model, and the Driver's Package is offered on the Tremor for the first time.
What is the difference between Expedition and Expedition MAX?
The MAX is the extended-wheelbase version, 221.7 inches long versus 209.9, riding on a 131.5-inch wheelbase instead of 122.5. Behind the third row that buys you 36.1 cubic feet instead of 21.6, and the fuel tank grows from 23.6 to 27.8 gallons. MAX is available on Active, Platinum, and King Ranch. The Tremor is standard-wheelbase only. One tradeoff worth knowing: a MAX 4x4 with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package tops out at 9,000 lbs of towing rather than 9,600.
What is the 2027 Expedition's maximum towing capacity?
Up to 9,600 lbs, and the fine print matters. That figure applies to a standard-wheelbase 4x4 Active, Platinum, or King Ranch with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and without 24-inch wheels. Order 24-inch wheels, which come with the Platinum Ultimate and Stealth Performance Packages, and maximum towing drops to 9,200 lbs. Without the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package an Active tows 6,000 lbs in either 4x2 or 4x4. Expedition MAX rates 6,300 lbs in 4x2 and 7,000 lbs in 4x4, rising to 9,000 lbs with the Heavy-Duty package. The Tremor tows up to 9,300 lbs. Any trailer rated 7,000 lbs or more requires a weight distribution hitch.
What makes the Tremor different from other Expedition trims?
The Tremor is the only Expedition with the 440-horsepower 3.5L EcoBoost V6 High-Output engine as standard equipment, and the only one with Rock Crawl mode, giving it seven drive modes to every other Expedition's six. It also adds Ford Trail Control, Trail 1-Pedal Drive, and Trail Turn Assist, which brakes the inside wheel at low speed to tighten the turning radius on narrow trails. Hardware includes a 3.73 electronic-locking rear differential, all-terrain tires, modified Raptor skid plates, a High Flow Exhaust System, and off-road auxiliary grille lights. Ground clearance is 10.6 inches against 8.7, and the approach angle is 28.2 degrees against 21.0. Four-wheel drive is standard and it is offered in standard wheelbase only.
Does the 2027 Expedition have BlueCruise?
Yes, and for 2027 it is equipped across the lineup rather than optional. Active Touring 202A now includes BlueCruise with a 90-day trial, Platinum and Tremor come equipped, and King Ranch includes a one-year plus 90-day plan. BlueCruise operates in pre-mapped Blue Zones covering the great majority of controlled-access highways in the U.S. and Canada, including I-75, I-69, I-94, and US-23 through Southeast Michigan. Plan terms vary by model; see dealer for current details.
How many people does the 2027 Expedition seat?
Up to eight. The Active seats eight as standard in a 2-3-3 layout, or seven with optional second-row captain's chairs. Platinum and Tremor seat seven as standard with captain's chairs and can be optioned to eight with the second-row bench. King Ranch seats seven only. Every configuration is three rows.
How much cargo space does the 2027 Expedition have?
Behind the third row the standard-wheelbase Expedition holds 21.6 cubic feet and the MAX holds 36.1. Behind the second row it is 60.8 cubic feet, or up to 69.9 with the second row slid forward; the MAX gives 75.4 and up to 84.5. With the second and third rows folded flat, 108.5 cubic feet in the standard wheelbase and 123.1 in the MAX. The MAX also carries a bigger fuel tank, 27.8 gallons against 23.6.
What is the 24-inch panoramic display?
The Ford Digital Experience presents instruments, navigation, and driver information across a 24-inch panoramic display spanning the instrument panel, paired with a 13.2-inch center touchscreen. Both are standard on every 2027 Expedition trim level, including the base Active.
